Problem

quest waiting listed 13 quests waiting on someone. Several conditions had already cleared, and the maintainer owed decisions on others.

Approach

A /quest-unblock round with the maintainer. Each answer is recorded where its wait lives:

  • runners: ci: call queue-build.yml from main rind#491 and ci: call queue-build.yml from main rust2#650 merged. The coordinator restricted runner groups 8, 9 and 10 to their repository's queue-build.yml@refs/heads/main with the maintainer's org-admin login, and GitHub kept the fields. A wait remains for the next merge group in each repository to confirm the restricted group still runs its build.
  • repo-config: decided (a). The user-level dev-shell-hook initializes submodules the flake needs. It lives in kixelated/dotfiles, so the quest is now agent work.
  • codex-cloud-off: decided that an agent moves moq.pro to local review and updates its four older drafts, so the quest is now agent work (resized XS to S).
  • decisions-needed: cleared. chore: build through mbx's Cargo shim, toward a warm gate rust2#426 was the last draft with ## Decisions needed, and it's rewritten to ## Waiting.
  • pro-cutover: moq-bot's moq-dev installation was granted checks: write (it already had actions: write), verified with gh api orgs/moq-dev/installations.
  • operator-setup: renamed to turning kix on for moq-dev, with the outsider-only step dropped. The maintainer's install and device steps are now ## Waiting items, so triage stops offering the quest to agents.
  • follow: the maintainer lands a PR from a personal fork. An agent prepared it as local branch fork-check/follow, which deletes this quest, so landing it both proves the fork case and finishes the quest.
  • chatgpt-waitlist and chatgpt-hosted: deleted (see Decisions).

Decisions

  • Runners (unblocks Harden the queue runners): who restricts the runner groups? ✅ The coordinator, with the maintainer's login (rejected: the maintainer runs the commands; skip).
  • moq.pro Codex config (unblocks repo-config): ✅ (a) dev-shell-hook runs git submodule update --init (rejected: (b) keep moq.pro's Codex config; (c) a manual submodule init).
  • codex-cloud-off: ✅ an agent adopts local review in moq.pro and updates its stragglers (rejected: keep Codex for moq.pro; not yet).
  • ChatGPT waitlist (m2): ✅ delete hosted ChatGPT login regardless of OpenAI's answer, per the pending factory re-scope. This deletes quest/m2/chatgpt-waitlist.md and the only quest it blocked, quest/m2/chatgpt-hosted.md (rejected: no reply yet; approved; denied). Local ChatGPT plans through opencode are unaffected.
  • follow: ✅ an agent prepares, the maintainer pushes from a fork (rejected: wait for an outside contributor; drop the fork check).
  • pro-cutover's App permission: ✅ the coordinator granted it through Chrome after the maintainer confirmed sudo access (rejected: later; keep the batching gate).
  • operator-setup: the maintainer asked whether to delete the pilot, since Quest should serve moq-dev only. kix in m0 already serves only moq-dev, and deleting the quest would leave kix installed nowhere. ✅ Keep it and drop its outsider steps (rejected: delete it only; drop hosted kix entirely, which belongs to the factory re-scope's /quest-plan rounds if anywhere).
  • token-max: the maintainer won't publish 0.1.0 yet, so that wait stands.

PR decisions dispatched as /quest-iterate sub-agents, each recorded as a Design change: comment:

Validation

  • quest check and quest check --base origin/main --branch quest-unblock/2026-11-08 pass (53 documents).

Automated review by review (OpenAI)

Head: 8bd8230
Base: 738bbde

Findings: No actionable defects found in the nine-file documentation diff and inspected surrounding context.

Direction: The changes consistently turn recorded decisions into next steps while retaining the remaining maintainer installation, device, fork, and runner-verification waits. Removing the hosted ChatGPT quests matches the PR's stated decision; the inspected cloud-runner plan continues to specify API-key funding.

Limits: GitHub-only static review. No shell commands, builds, tests, or live setup actions were run. The claimed permission changes, external repository state, and prepared local fork branch were not independently verified. This comment does not establish runtime correctness or merge readiness.

Explain Change →

Walkthrough

The quest documents update setup, queue-watcher, local-review, and dev-shell plans. They record completed checks and permission changes, replace a decisions-needed status with a clearance update, and remove two hosted ChatGPT quest documents.

Merge Risk: Low · up to 8bd82

This PR only updates planning documents, so there is no production impact. A few verification steps in the documents are imprecise and could give false confidence when someone follows them. Fix the wording before or soon after merge.

Explanation

The title "quest: record the 2026-11-08 /quest-unblock answers" matches the main change: the PR records maintainer answers from the 2026-11-08 unblock round across the quest documents. It is specific about the date and the kind of change. It does not list every file, which is acceptable.

Full details: Description check

Explanation

The description explains the problem (quest waiting listed 13 quests), the approach (a /quest-unblock round whose answers are recorded per quest), the decisions for each quest, and the validation run. These match the changed quest documents, so the description is clearly related to the changeset.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

No eligible functions found in the changed files. Skipping docstring coverage check. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. `gh api orgs/moq-dev/installations` lists `kixel-quest` with both
repositories and that quest.moq.dev shows both enrolled.

Check repository access separately.

orgs/moq-dev/installations lists installations, not their selected repository names. The maintainer cannot confirm both repositories from this response. Check the installation’s repository selection in GitHub settings or use the installation repository-list endpoint with an installation token. (docs.github.com)

Commit the repairs before pushing the branch.

If quest check --fix changes files, it leaves those edits unstaged. The push will therefore omit the repairs, and the fork PR can fail its quest check. Tell the maintainer to review, stage, and commit the repairs before pushing. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Inspect the build job, not only the workflow run.

gh run list does not show job status or the assigned runner. A failed or cancelled run can also have no queued job without proving that the build ran. Use gh run view --json jobs or the jobs API to confirm that Queue build / Build started on the intended runner group. (cli.github.com)
